چکیده

Mixtures of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and ε−caprolactam (CPL) have been investigated as models for possible cross-interactions between vinylidene fluoride and amide structural units, that might account for the very fine phase morphology previously observed in PVDF/polyamide 6 blends. Over the entire composition range, the PVDF/CPL mixtures are monophase above the PVDF melting temperature. From the depression of the PVDF melting point, a negative interaction energy density, B, has been calculated that, however, depends on both temperature and CPL concentration. Mutual solubility of PVDF and CPL and negative B values are consistent with specific intermolecular interactions whose nature is discussed.

Crystallization of Poly(ε-caprolactone) in Poly(vinylidene fluoride)/Poly(ε-caprolactone) Blend

The crystallization behavior of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) in a poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/PCL blend as well as on a highly orientated PVDF substrate was studied by means of POM, DSC and TEM. The results show that the miscibility of the PVDF/PCL blend and the spherulitic morphology of PVDF varies with the blend ratio. For all the compositions, the pre-existing PVDF crystals accelerated th...

D.m.a. and d.s.c, investigations of the β transition of poly(vinylidene fluoride)

The origin of the β transition in poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) is still a pending question. This transition has been studied by dynamic mechanical analysis (d.m.a.) and differential scanning calorimetry (d.s.c.) in dependence on sample annealing and dilution with e-caprolactam (CPL). The β transition temperature is increased upon annealing and thus influenced by the polymer crystallization....

Adsorbate/absorbate interactions with organic ferroelectric polymers

We discuss the interactions of adsorbates with the organic ferroelectric copolymer poly(vinylidene fluoride (PVDF)–trifluoroethylene (TrFE)). Range of molecular adsorbates is discussed from the smaller polar molecules like water, which is small enough to both adsorb and absorb, to the larger macrocyclic metal–organic metal phthalocyanines. The changes in local dipole orientation may affect the ...

Formation of Poly(vinylidene fluoride) Nanofibers Part II: the elaboration of incompatibility in the electrospinning of its solutions

Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) fibers with two molecular weights were prepared via electrospinning process. In this process, the concentration of spinning depended drastically on the gelation process. Also, it was experimentally smaller than obtained concentration in the solution entanglement number approach (SENA). Proof of this incompatibility was explained by the properties of PVDF a...

Isothermal Melt Crystallization Kinetic Behavior of Poly (vinylidene fluoride)

Isothermal melt crystallization kinetics of PVDF was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry. Thin PVDF film has been fabricated by the solvent casting technique using dimethylformamide (DMF). Then, the samples were melted and subsequently crystallized in the range of the crystallization temperature (Tc) between 138 and 145 °C. The crystallization kinetics was derived from Avrami equa...
